  • SQ 1: friends are important Dedicated to his friends, Kelly Shortandqueer wrote stories about and included pictures of those folks who have been important in his life over the years.  While the stories are about those friends, it also gives lots of insight into Kelly’s life.

  • SQ 2: things i like/don't like This zine was KSQ's attempt to get over his fear of  drawing.  In it, Kelly illustrates things he likes and things he doesn’t like.

  • SQ 3: the best thing that happened today was... For 101 days, KSQ wrote down the best thing that happened to him.  This zine documents those best things, illustrating his sometimes silly, sometimes weird, sometimes boring and always geeky life.

  • SQ 4: the coming out issue This zine documents interactions KSQ had with friends and family as he started coming out as transgender.  Much of the zine is about his relationship with his mom, e-mails back and forth, letters, etc, that illustrate how far she’s come to be supportive.  It also includes some pieces Kelly wrote for The Tranny Roadshow.

  • SQ 5: the best thing that happened today was (part 2) This is a continuation of sq3, where KSQ wrote down the best thing that happened every day.  This zine mostly takes place in Chicago.

  • SQ 6: now that i'm a dude After being out as a transguy for about a year and a half, KSQ has had some ridiculous experiences.  In shortandqueer #6, he write about how some things have changed in his life while others haven’t.  Health, dating, co-workers, and weird interactions are the focus of this zine.

  • SQ 7: hello world! Assembled for the Denver Zine Fest, KSQ compiled some random pieces written for other zines as well as some new ridiculous stories. This issue includes irrational fears, his fifth grade birthday party, awkward and hilarious interactions with coworkers and more.

  • SQ 8: i am not unreasonable The most serious of the shortandqueer series, #8 focuses on KSQ’s struggle with gender.  This zine begins with a response to an e-mail that didn’t feel so good and is followed by excerpts from Kelly’s journals, dating back to 2000.

  • SQ 9: the best thing that happened today was... january-april 2008 Once again, KSQ documents the best thing of the day. Shortandqueer 9 chronicles January-April 2008.

  • SQ 10: the reawakening of my baseball fandom The Phillies are the 2008 World Series champions! This issue documents Kelly Shortandqueer’s longtime baseball fandom including how the sport was central in his relationship with his dad, the amazing 1993 Phillies team, the 2008 postseason and Kelly’s longing for radical/queer sports space. This zine comes with a special insert: The original paper Kelly wrote in 8th grade called “Prejudice in Baseball”.

  • SQ 11: the best thing that happened today was... may-december 2008 KSQ continues documenting the best thing that happens to him every day. This issue spans May through December 2008.

  • SQ 12: Menstruation, not punctuation (periods.) After four years on testosterone, KSQ unexpectedly got his period. This issue recounts his first period, tales from his days of bleeding and several submissions from other folks about menstruation.

  • SQ 13: A Musical Autobiography This issue is a series of stories that have connections to various songs. Split into major sections, KSQ focuses on the early years, middle school, high school, his summer camp, DC, Denver, Chicago and the Tranny Roadshow. He also includes stories about his mom, perfect albums and his favorite musicals.

  • SQ 14: The best thing that happened today was... 2009 The next installment of "the best thing that happened today was...", this issue covers the entire year of 2009. KSQ continues documenting the best thing about each day in journal format.

  • SQ15: Speeches and performances 2006-2010 shortandqueer 15 is a compilation of speeches and performances from 2006-2010. Included are KSQ's * 2006 Tranny Roadshow Performance * 2008 Tranny Roadshow Performance * Speech Delivered at the Transgender Day of Remembrance, 11/20/09 * Keynote Speech from the Colorado Gold Rush Conference, 2/26/10
